Ms. Nora Johnson is former vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. and chairman of the Global Markets Institute at Goldman Sachs. In her over twenty-year career there she served as a member of the firm’s Management Committee, responsible for the Global Investment Research Division; head of the Global Healthcare Business; and founded the firm’s Latin American business. She chaired the Pine Street/Goldman Sachs University board and served as a board member on the Goldman Sachs Foundation. She also served on the Budget, Business Practices, Compensation, and Partnership Committees. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ms. Nora Johnson was a corporate attorney with Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett.
Ms. Nora Johnson is a member of the board of directors of American International Group, Intuit, Pfizer, and VISA. She is also active in many non-profit organizations and currently serves on the board of the American Red Cross, The Broad Foundations, The Brookings Institution, the Markle Foundation, TechnoServe, the University of Southern California, and Women’s World Banking. She serves on the Global Agenda Council on Systemic Financial Resilience for the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Partnership for the Americas Commission. She also serves on advisory boards at Harvard Medical School (Departments of Cell Biology and Pathology), RAND Health, and the Initiative on Financial Security at the Aspen Institute, where she was a Henry Crown Fellow.
Ms. Nora Johnson earned a BA in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Southern California and a JD from Harvard University. She clerked for the Hon. Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr. of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
